LICENSED HOUSTON PSYCHOLOGIST
Hi, I’m Ally Sequeira
I’m Alejandra “Ally” Sequeira, a Counseling Psychologist licensed in both Texas and California. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History and Psychology from The University of Alabama and both my Master of Education in Educational Psychology and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University.
Throughout my graduate training, I primarily focused on treating anxiety-related concerns using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I gained experience working with individuals across the lifespan and from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds in a variety of clinical settings and at all levels of care.
As a fluent Spanish speaker, I intentionally sought training opportunities that allowed me to provide high-quality therapy to both English- and Spanish-speaking clients.
Outside of my clinical work, I am actively involved in several professional and community organizations. I have served on the board of the Houston Psychological Association since 2022, including roles as Secretary and President. I am actively involved with OCD Texas, where I have served on the planning committee for the 1 Million Steps for OCD Walk since 2021. In 2024, I had the privilege of collaborating with the City of Houston on its Youth Mental Health Guide and continue to support the city’s youth-focused mental health initiatives. Lastly, I provide educational workshops and continued education presentations to local, national, and international audiences.
My passion for treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders was solidified in 2017 when I started my post-doctoral fellowship at The OCD and Anxiety Program of Southern California. I quickly discovered how meaningful it was to help individuals face their fears, tolerate uncertainty, and learn to trust themselves. Seeing patients transition from making feared-based to values-based decisions is truly remarkable. I count myself extremely lucky to get to do this work everyday!

HOUSTON OCD & ANXIETY TREATMENT
Practice Values
-
We prioritize treatments that are backed by research and clinical effectiveness. Our work is grounded in proven approaches, including ERP and other evidence-based interventions for OCD, anxiety, and related disorders.
-
Expert care should still feel human. We believe patients deserve treatment from clinicians who are highly trained while also being warm, relatable, and easy to talk to.
-
No two people experience distress the same way. We adapt treatment to the unique needs, environment, culture, and circumstances of each patient rather than relying on one-size-fits-all approaches.
-
Healing happens through partnership. We work closely with patients and, when appropriate, families and support systems to create meaningful and sustainable progress.
-
We look beyond symptoms alone. Our approach considers the broader emotional, relational, developmental, and environmental factors impacting a person’s well-being.
-
Life happens, and progress is rarely perfect. We believe in balancing compassion with encouragement, helping patients continue moving forward even when treatment feels difficult or messy.

What People Are Saying
Dr. Ally is an expert in treating OCD and anxiety. She is licensed in both Texas and California and works with children, teens, and adults in both English and Spanish. Her extensive skill set, engaging personality, and commitment to evidence based treatment allows her to connect with children, teens, and adults in the unique way that is required when doing the hard work required in ERP and CBT.
As a fellow practice owner in the same field I often refer clients to Dr. Ally as I trust her and her work completely - you are an amazing hands if you get the opportunity to work with her and have her on your team!
— Ivy RiosDr. Ally helped me overcome my anxiety and OCD. When I first came to her, I was at a low point in my life and had little knowledge of OCD. Dr. Ally educated me and provided tailored Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for my subtypes. She is direct, honest, and an excellent listener who never interrupts. CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) techniques are now second nature to me, instead of my OCD and anxiety taking over.
Dr. Ally has shown me how to live a life free from the shackles of my thoughts. Although we no longer meet weekly, I know she’s there for me in the future if I need her. I’ve found my OCD/anxiety therapist for life.
— KateDr. Sequiera is an amazing psychologist and an OCD and anxiety expert. She facilitates life changing intensives that allow clients to make significant progress in a short time frame. As another psychologist in the community, I am thrilled to refer to Houston OCD & Anxiety.
